Orbis Launches EDI Committee

Composed of volunteer members of our team, our newly founded Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee is committed to bridging understanding, informing departmental practices, steering communications. and embodying an equally empowering culture that represents the uniqueness of our global population.

Our EDI Committee, and members of our team, recently met with Rebecca Hooton of The 519 – a Toronto-based organization advocating for the LGBTQ2S community through:

  • community leadership and public service,
  • community engagement and critical services, and,
  • capacity and infrastructure.

In our first session with Rebecca, we learned about fostering queer & trans-inclusive environments. Our team in attendance unanimously responded with positive feedback on this session, feeling it was valuable, insightful, and meaningful. We look forward to implementing what we’ve learned into how we operate and within our community.
