More Than 300 Co-op Students Will Help the University of Waterloo Transition to Online Courses

We are beyond excited and proud to announce that our campus partners at the University of Waterloo are leveraging Student Work Placement Program funding to offer 300+ positions for co-op students. As recently announced by Orbis, in an unprecedented show of solidarity and support for post-secondary institutions nationwide, the Government of Canada changed Student Work Placement Program funding eligibility criteria to allow universities, colleges, and polytechnics recognition as Employers of Record. This move makes all post-secondary institutions eligible for wage subsidies of between $5,000 and $7,000 per student hired. In this unique (trailblazing) instance, co-op students brought into the University of Waterloo’s extensive co-op program will support faculty in developing and delivering online courses for their peers.
