Orbis Communications is a small company located in the heart of Dundas Ontario. Our company began on a university campus, and has grown organically ever since. We play a big role in the experiential, career and educational process on campuses located all across North America. We are the largest post-secondary experiential learning platform in Canada, supporting work-integrated learning across the country. We are proud to support over 100 campus partners, ranging from small local colleges, to the world’s largest co-op program. Customer Relationship Manager

Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The role of the Customer Relationship Manager is to work hands on with our customers, developers, designers and executive team in the support and enhancement of our customers’ software experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as a point of first contact for customers on a range of issues from defining product goals, resolving product issues and discussing new product solutions and opportunities
  • Courage to pursue bold ideas and decisions with passion, determination, and a full understanding of the facts and risks of your actions;
  • Conduct yourself in an honest and principled manner to contribute to the forward momentum of the organization
  • Be an active participant in the expansion and updating of our training & knowledge base resources;
  • Have the exciting challenge of building a national product community that will support and enhance customer experience with the Orbis product line
  • Work closely with our development team to articulate customer concerns, issues and new feature requests
  • Provide first call resolution for issues or requests pertaining to the Orbis software platform with our customers over the phone, through our online support system and email
  • Self-manage your time and look for ways of improving the functionality of the software while offering suggestions for future development
  • Utilize effective and timely communication skills in interpersonal relationships with management team and developers
  • With a growing international customer base the successful candidate will be required to travel periodically for on-site meetings, training and conferences
Job Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2-5 years experience in post secondary environment (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Display an understanding of web technologies and show a willingness to learn new programs and products
  • Ability to understand and convey technical concepts
  • A working knowledge and understanding of database technologies
  • A keen interest in taking on new challenges and responsibilities
  • A flexible and strong work ethic
  • Courage to pursue bold ideas and decisions with passion, determination, and a full understanding of the facts and risks of your actions;

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Orbis products, debugging, trouble shooting and making recommendations based on the business practices of our customers;
  • Work closely with our Customer Relationship Managers to understand and address customer concerns and issues;
  • Work closely under the guidance and direction of our executive team to learn Orbis systems and methods;
  • Self-manage your time and look for ways of improving the functionality of the products while offering suggestions for future development;
  • Demonstrate effective and timely communication skills in interpersonal relationships with management team, customers, support staff and developers;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a high pressure environment
  • An undergraduate degree or college diploma in relevant area;
  • 2+ years of employment as a software developer;
  • Experience with building and maintaining interaction module tool sets is considered an asset;
  • Development experience with Java, experience with Eclipse IDE; Database experience (MSSQL, Oracle, SQL Server), including design, optimization, administration and maintenance;
  • Display an understanding of web technologies and show a willingness to learn new programs and products (Dynamic HTML, JSPs, AJAX, jQuery, CSS, JavaScript);
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat, Spring and/or Hibernate, is preferred;
  • Solid understanding of relational and object-oriented analysis, design and implementation concepts;
  • A working knowledge and understanding of database technologies;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies;
  • Be flexible and adaptable to adjust to changing requirements as organizational priorities and customer deadlines shift;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing work schedules against deadlines in a high pressure environment;
  • Attention to details is a must;
  • A great attitude with the ability to follow direction well;
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • Strong English communication skills, spoken and written;
