Welcome Summer Co-op Students
15 January 2017
At Orbis we believe strongly in supporting youth employment by hiring and retaining co-op students as a key part of our talent development strategy. For several years we have recruited co-op students from local institutions with great success. The majority of those students have gone on to full time positions within our organization.
In February we announced that a key part of our talent development strategy would be to actively build a year round co-op program at Orbis. Summer 2016 marks the beginning of this program and we were very fortunate to be able to welcome two new co-op students this spring, with Dylan Davies and Samuel Harbord joining the team. Both Dylan and Samuel are in their third year at Mohawk College in the Software Development Program.
We also welcomed back Ryan Grady for his third co-op term with us. Ryan is a fourth year Software Engineering & Game Design student from McMaster University. We are thrilled to have such a large group of students among us, and are excited to see all they can accomplish in the next few months.
Co-op at Orbis is a hands-on experience. Our co-op students are assigned their own projects, take part in team meetings, participate in team building exercises, and have access to senior staff who are building some of the most complex aspects of our product lines. We believe in providing first hand learning experiences with strong mentorship and guidance from senior staff.
We’re now hiring Co-op Software Developers for the Fall of 2017. If there is a specific student you think would work well on the Orbis team, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to us. Although we’re focused right now on hiring developers, if you have a co-op student whose skills might translate to our organization, let us know. We firmly believe in building and investing in the right talent and we’ve created positions in the past for individuals with unique skill sets.
SINCERELY – THE ORBIS TEAM
